Small Satellites are revolutionizing the NewSpace sector. Their agility and versatility have democratized the access to Space and the emergence of new players. This workshop provides insights about the Mission Analysis and Design of a Small Satellite Constellation, from the concept to the system's requirements and operations, with a focus on learning by doing. The students participate in the process of designing a CubeSat space mission from user requirements to space system design. The workshop will give a thorough introduction to Mission Analysis and Design of Nanosatellite Missions with focus on learning by doing. The students will need to design a constellation from market needs to design of subsystems.
What we have for you:
- Mission Analysis & Design: The students will receive insight into the primary inputs to the design of a Space Mission, as well as the specific aspects regarding Mission Analysis, with special emphasis on the processes and the Concept of Operations.
- Systems Engineering: The students will learn about the most common Subsystems (such as TTC, Payload, OBC, EPS, ADCS) of Small Satellites. Students will be in contact with the Standards, Interfaces, Buses, and Protocols that are most common in Small Satellite missions.
- Hands-on - Small Satellite Constellation Mission: The students will need to design and analyze a mission concept provided by the lecturer and identify requirements, constraints, as well as propose design solutions for their own Mission Concept identifying payload and subsystems to accomplish their Mission Objectives. Students will be put in a competitive environment, meaning that they will work collaboratively in teams to solve a challenge and compete for the best mission concept. They will need to be innovative, simple, and agile. Also, the students may be introduced to the KitSat platform and get their hands-on a CubeSat educational satellite.
